    How does Acronis True Image Online work?

    After purchasing the subscription service, client software is downloaded to your PC or laptop and installed. You launch the application, choose the files to be backed up and then set the schedule. This takes only a couple of minutes. Acronis True Image Online does the rest. It automatically backs up and protects your information without further user involvement.
    When you need to recover a file, you can either use the application on your PC or log in to your Acronis account from any Internet-connected PC and select the files or folders to restore.

    How do I select the files I want to back up?

    Acronis True Image Online provides three options for selecting files. On the main screen, click on "Options" and then "What to Back up".From there, you can either select "Categories" of files, "Document File" which is by file type extension or "folders" which is a traditional Windows Explorer-like tree structure. Check the boxes for the files and folders you want protected and then press the "Save and close" button.

    Your service will not be able to back up your data for that date or time. It will back up your data at the next regularly scheduled time. When you do turn your machine back on, you could manually initiate a backup selecting the "Backup Now" button on the main user screen.

    How do I restore a file?

    From there, you choose the date and time of the backup you want to access.
    Next you select the files or folders to be recovered.
    Then you select the location on the PC to save the file to. This PC can be the original PC or any other Internet-connected PC.

    My backup did not run as scheduled. What happened?

    Check to see if there is a yellow triangle with an exclamation point to the right of the Next Backed Scheduled Date and Time. If this appears, you need to add your Windows name and password credentials to your PC.

    Will Acronis True Image Online impact my Internet connection bandwidth?

    While Acronis True Image Online necessarily must use up some network bandwidth during data transmission, you can easily limit its allocated bandwidth to minimize the impact on your other applications during the backup process. In the "Options" tab, select "Settings" and then "Storage Connection Speed" to set this limit. You can also click on the "Suspend" button in the backup window to pause a backup. When you press "Resume", the backup will continue from the point that the backup was suspended.
    Most users configure their backup schedule to happen when they are not using their machines, eliminating any performance concerns.

    How do I know if a backup has been completed?

    There are a couple ways.
    First, the service will tell you that it completed its backup and provide a date/time stamp.
    Second, on the bottom of the main screen of the service, there is a rolling bar of dates. Each completed backup for a specific date will have its timestamp.

    Acronis True Image Online will try to reconnect in the event the connection is lost. When the connection is re-established, the backup process will continue from the point of the disruption.     Encryption keys provide data protection so that only you can access your files. You only have one chance to set your encryption key and that is when you first register a PC to the Acronis True Image Online service. You will be given the option to enter your personal encryption key. This key is then used in all of your backups. Acronis has no ability to recover your encryption, please do not lose it.

    I forgot my encryption key. What can I do?

    Acronis has no access to your encryption key or ability to recover it. You must start over with the backups for that PC. Delete your PC from the Acronis True Image Online service. Restart your computer. Log in to the Acronis True Image Online service and enter your new encryption key. You will be required to perform the initial back up again from the beginning.
